Whistleblower lawsuit against Ken Paxton can move forward in real court, Supreme Court rules

AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Whistleblowers suing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for wrongful termination will move forward with their lawsuit in a Travis County court, the Texas Supreme Court ruled Friday, lifting a procedural pause and extending Paxton's legal troubles past his impeachment trial.The ruling is a blow to Paxton, whose office came to a $3.3 million settlement agreement with four top officials who claimed Paxton fired them in retaliation for reporting him to the FBI on allegations of bribery and abuse of office in 2020.The Supreme Court's decision comes just four days after the whistleblowers asked them to send their lawsuit back to Travis County. ‘We are not going away’: Paxton whistleblowers announce next steps in legal fight Lead plaintiff Blake Brickman told Nexstar the trial will allow them to compel Paxton to testify, unlike in the Senate's impeachment trial in which Lt. NYS Military Museum to host grand re-opening

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The New York State Military Museum announced they will be hosting their grand re-opening. The event is scheduled for October 7 at 11 a.m. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The museum reopened its doors back in July after being closed for several months due to renovations and repairs. The grand re-opening will celebrate the museum being back in full swing, and will feature historical reenactors, a performance by the 42nd Division Military Band, and free ice cream provided by Stewart's Shops. The New York State Military Museum is located at 61 Lake Avenue in Saratoga Springs. The event is free and open to the public.

Missouri teacher on leave over 'OnlyFans' page

ST. CLAIR, Mo. - A high school English teacher is on leave after school administrators discovered her profile on the pornography website OnlyFans.Brianna Coppage, 28, told FOX 2's partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that her access to school email and other software has been revoked while the district investigates. She also shared that she joined OnlyFans over the summer to supplement her teaching salary. St. Louis had only 2 officers for an entire district – Both called in sick According to the Post-Dispatch, Coppage made about $42,000 last year teaching freshman and sophomore English. She says she earns an additional $8,000 to $10,000 a month performing on OnlyFans.The district says any action taken against Coppage will be in accordance with board policy.

St. Louis gas station sells winning Powerball Ticket, doubling payout

Three years after a successful ballot initiative push to reintroduce wolves, wildlife advocates will try again to put decisions about managing Colorado’s carnivores in the hands of voters.A coalition of wildlife advocates will pursue a ballot initiative to ban the hunting of mountain lions and the trapping of bobcats in Colorado. If the coalition can collect 124,238 signatures, they will place the question on the 2024 ballot.Those pursuing the ballot initiative say there is no scientific reason to hunt mountain lions or bobcats and that methods used to do so are inhumane.“This isn’t managing anything, this isn’t solving anything,” said Julie Marshall, national communications coordinator for Animal Wellness Action and the Center for Humane Economy. “This is about trophies and about fun. The rules the Air Quality Control Commission passed on Friday in the Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Energy Management in Manufacturing Phase 2 rulemaking are an egregious example of this problem.Impacted communities have been waiting too long for real reductions of pollution and other cumulative impacts from industry.
