DENVER (KDVR) -- The natural swim area of Cherry Creek State Park was reopened Saturday morning, just in time for days of sunny weather to begin Sunday.The swim area was closed Thursday morning when Colorado Parks and Wildlife completed a routine test of the water. The levels were higher than the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment allowed.When CPW tested the water Saturday morning, they said that the samples they collected showed a dissipation of the bacteria, so it was reopened for swimming.These kinds of closures are not common, according to park operations manager Larry Butterfield.“The elevated bacteria levels can be caused by fecal waste from wildlife, run-off from urban areas, or excessive run-off from rain, and the park has seen heavy rainfall this year,” Butterfield said.E. coli are bacteria that typically live in the intestines ...

DENVER (KDVR) -- At least one person is dead after a crash in the Montbello neighborhood overnight.According to the Denver Police Department, there was a crash with serious injuries involving two motorists. Denver police investigating deadly hit-and-run, assault as homicide They reported the death at 12:58 a.m. Saturday.It happened near 56th Avenue and Joliet Street in Denver, near the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.DPD said one of the motorists was declared dead on the scene.The condition of the other motorist was unclear as of Saturday morning.

(WSVN)- The Ruby Princess cruise ship will set sail once again just three days after it crashed into a San Francisco pier.The ship was meant to leave from San Francisco for a 10-day cruise to Alaska on Thursday but got damaged in a collision with the dock while coming into port.Now as a form of compensation to upset passengers, the cruise ship has offered them two options.The first is to leave the ship and get a 100% refund and a 50% off coupon for another cruise. Man charged with OUI after fatal crash kills one motorcyclist, seriously injures another in Taunton

A New Bedford man was charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly struck two motorcyclists in Taunton early Saturday morning, killing one and seriously injuring the other, officials said.Fred Moreira, 35, was driving southbound on Route 24 where he was arrested around 2:30 a.m. after the crash, Massachusetts State Police announced. He faces charges of vehicular homicide, OUI liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.30-year-old Tyler Moniz of Fall River was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. An unnamed 39-year-old Fall River man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries.All lanes on Route 24 were reopened by 5:50 a.m.
