Resident stabs alleged robber to death in Broomfield

DENVER (KDVR) -- A man was stabbed to death during an alleged robbery in Broomfield on Wednesday, according to the Broomfield Police Department.Officers were called to the home, located in the 3900 block of Cambridge Avenue in the Brandywine neighborhood, around 3 p.m.They found a man, later identified as 30-year-old Trenten Hansen, dead inside the home. Hansen was the suspect in a daytime robbery, according to police. Denver International Airport plans to move rental cars to new facility Two residents were inside the home during the robbery. Police said one of them fatally stabbed Hansen. One of the residents also sustained minor injuries.According to police, detectives were working to determine how Hansen got to the area and why he entered that specific home.

(NEXSTAR) – A massive data dump of 11 million criminal offenses reported to the FBI paints a complicated picture of crime in the United States, as well as in Colorado.In 2022, violent crime overall — which includes homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault — dropped modestly. Violent crime was 1.7% lower in 2022 than in 2021, the FBI said. The drop brings violent violent crime back to pre-pandemic levels, though not as low as it was between 2013 and 2015. The data, released Monday, shows that while violent crime dropped nationwide in 2022, it increased in Colorado, continuing a COVID-era trend.
