As Hurricane Idalia churns toward Florida forecasters warn of storm surge

CEDAR KEY, Fla. (AP) — Idalia strengthened into a hurricane Tuesday and barreled toward Florida's Gulf Coast as authorities warned residents of vulnerable areas to pack up and leave to escape the twin threats of high winds and devastating flooding.Idalia was churning in the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 1 storm, but it was projected to come ashore early Wednesday as a Category 3 system with sustained winds of up to 120 mph (193 kph) in the lightly populated Big Bend region, where the Florida Panhandle curves into the peninsula. The result could be a big blow to a state still dealing with lingering damage from last year’s Hurricane Ian.The National Weather Service in Tallahassee called Idalia “an unprecedented event” since no major hurricanes on record have ever passed through the bay abutting the Big Bend region. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady County is hosting a drive-thru rabies vaccination clinic in Princetown on September 23. According to the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire District No. 1, Brookwood Road and lower Newton Road rail crossings are impassable. State Troopers make felony drug arrest on I-87

MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Troopers arrested a 40-year-old from Troy following a traffic stop on I-87 on the night of August 24. Bakeim J. Mccall was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! During the traffic stop, Troopers discovered that Mccall had felony-weight narcotics. He was processed at SP Wilton and arraigned at the Wilton Town Court. Mccall was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

Man charged in shootout with St. Louis County officer after attempted carjacking

ST. LOUIS COUNTY Mo. - A man accused of trying to steal a woman's car and exchanging gunfire with a St. Louis County officer before he was shot Monday now faces felony charges. Prosecutors have charged Dujuan Williams, 24, with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault on a special victim (an officer), and two counts of armed criminal action in the case. The incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 6800 block of Parker Road, just off Lewis and Clark Boulevard. St. Louis County woman used fake identity to buy cars, lease home

ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis County woman admitted to using fake identities to buy two cars and lease a home. Amia Hill, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud in federal court Tuesday. Her charges date back to December 2021. According to her plea agreement, Hill used the name and personal information of someone identified as "S.A." to buy a Dodge Charger for around $30,000. Nearly three months later, she did the same thing, but used a different person's name and information to but a Dodge Durango for nearly $36,000. St. Charles asks residents to send pics of cars with illegal temp tags In March 2022, Hill reportedly used S.A.’s information to lease a home in Florissant. She lived there through July 2022, costing the landlord around $6,000. Hill also helped a woman obtain a $6,500 loan from First Community Credit Union in March 2022, using someone else’s personal information.
